"92 pts ... The 2010 Gran Corte is a blend of 60% Malbec, 20% Syrah and 20% Cabernet Franc which aged for 18 months in brand new French oak barrels and has a complex nose with aniseed, licorice, nutmeg and black pepper aromas intermixed with red and black fruit. This wine combines Mediterranean and Atlantic characteristics with the wood perfectly integrated into the powerful wine. The palate is medium to full-bodied but maintains good balance and elegance, perhaps with some tannins that will benefit from some bottle aging. Drink 2015-2020." -- Wine Advocate 04/14

"Bright medium ruby. Sexy, nuanced aromas of blackberry, game, chocolate, herbs and smoky oak, with suggestions of liqueur-like ripeness. Suave on entry, then dense and smooth in the middle, showing good violet lift to the intense black fruit flavors. The rising finish shows excellent retention of fruit and tannins that are firm but not hard. As usual, this bottling offers a lot of flavor for the price." -- Stephen Tanzer

Deep crimson colour. The nose presents aromas of red and black fruit, with red currants and plums, and a little bit of mint and cedar. The bouquet fills out with notes of vanilla, spices and mocha from the French oak. On the palate, the texture is pleasant and well balanced. The tannins are refined and gentle. There is a pleasant sensation of softness in the mouth. This is a deep, flavourful wine which can be drunk now but which will reveal more of its character in three to five years.

Bright, saturated medium ruby. Lovely high-pitched perfume of blackberry, violet, bitter chocolate and peppery herbs. At once suave and penetrating, displaying captivating floral lift to the high-pitched dark berry flavors. Wonderfully seamless, bright wine with harmonious framing acidity accentuating its impression of purity. Finishes with noble tannins and lovely rising length. This very rich, sweet wine has the balance to give early pleasure but will gain in complexity with more bottle age. Another superb wine from the terrific 2010 vintage

The joint venture between Cheval Blanc and Terrazas de los Andes, notably the first and only one ever for Cheval Blanc, originated as Pierre Lurton, Cheval Blanc's Director, sought out a special terroir outside France in which to apply the deep and historical knowledge of blending. Lurton was captivated by the idea of unearthing a connection with Saint Emilion's past, as he found 76-year-old pre-phylloxera Malbec vines, producing some of the world's best wines. From ungrafted 76-year old vines, two full plants per bottle.
