Bursts with raspberries, allspice and a grapefruit-cool-climate-Syrah typicity underscored by dark fruit and floral incense. Structurally more intense than recent vintages with the Porseleinberg Syrah starting to make an impact, with a refreshing acidity luring you back for more. The Viognier adds subtle hi-tone nuances to the aromatic profile and some textural qualities. Bitter dark chocolate on the palate with cold soaked game, black fruit, hints of smoky minerality and oak spice. A pure, focussed, textured and penetrating palate.

59% Grenache/ 22% Shiraz/ 19% Mataro; Red Wine

2014 Torbreck Juveniles Cuvee

Barossa Valley, South Australia

90 JS

Bold and seductive, this youthful, unoaked blend encapsulates all that is great in natural, pure, unseasoned wine. Its fragrance, intensity and energy are all reminiscent of freshly fermenting must, with ripe juicy flavours of blackberry, spiced cherries, minerals and Asian spices wrapped around a skeleton of fresh acidity and fine mineral laden tannins. Soft and sensuous, this wine is frightfully drinkable already, but as with its predecessors will greatly recompense those who choose to give it a few years in the cellar.

2014 Penfolds Bin 389 Cabernet Shiraz

51% Cabernet Sauvignon/49% Shiraz; Red Wine

2014 Penfolds Bin 389 Cabernet Shiraz

Barossa, South Australia

96 JH; 96 JS

24+ bottles available.
Nose: A first impression of dark fruits and chocolate, splashed by spices – cinnamon, vanillin pod, cola. Then, a transient umami dabble – via cues of Worcestershire sauce/smoked Barossa bacon/beef cube. To follow, a bruléed lift mirrored by scents of toasted brioche, soaked oats. Intriguingly different, yet still Bin 389, albeit young/evolving at this perusal at an early stage.
Palate: Expansive, explosive, exotic...a Bin 389 triple-ex palate rating! A wave/surge of fruits and spice unleashed – propelled by tomato and tahini paste flavours. Juicy, succulent tannins engulf, alongside oak – adding volume, density. Mouth-coating in every sense. Long and lingering. Best 2018 - 2035.

2013 Badenhorst Family Red Blend

Shiraz/Mourvedre/Grenache/Cinsault; Red Wine

2013 Badenhorst Family Red Blend

Swartland, South Africa

93 WA
2 bottles available for same day shipping.
12+ bottles available.
The tannins are prominent and well integrated and refreshing as a number of parcels were picked quite early. The aromas are brooding but with complex notes of pepper, liquorice, perfume and black cherries. The palate entry is quite dense with lavender and dark berry fruit. The finish is dry with well spread tannins ending with savoury and currant flavours. This vintage will be quite reserved in its youth but I expect it to mature very well and grow in its potential.
