It’s reflective of the season, and therefore different to previous releases. It’s peppery, for starters. There’s a clear note of coffee grounds, but it is in no way oak dominant. There’s a darkness to the fruit, in terms of flavour, but a lightness in terms of intensity or weight. Not “light”: just lighter than usual. There are dried herb notes and well honed, well ripened, nutty tannins. 	2010 Jim Barry Lodge Hill Shiraz New Vintage! '09 rated 91 WS The McRae Wood's sibling is reliably yummy and meant to drink over several years. Hints of licorice, spice and mint, medium-bodied, and fairly juicy dark fruits. Really tasty with braised chicken thighs rubbed with a fennel based spice rub. "The 2010 vintage has a deep black red colour and excellent clarity. It displays lifted notes of pepper spice, nutmeg and caraway seed with lashings of boysenberry mixed with spearmint. The palate is medium bodied and seamless with an abundance of choc-mint, raspberries and black cherries, all wrapped up in integrated, well seasoned oak."
