KEN FORRESTER VINEYARDS Stellenbosch, South Africa "Situated on the slopes of the Helderberg Mountain, in the heart of South Africa's most famous wine region Stellenbosch, our vineyards are commonly referred to as the Home of Chenin Blanc and other premium award-winning wines. In 1993 with a young family, Ken and his wife Teresa set their hearts on a historic vineyard in Stellenbosch. Originally granted to Frederich Boot of Gotha in 1689 as Zandberg. This beautiful farm, complete with historic Cape Dutch homestead built in 1694 had stood vacant and derelict. Teresa took on the daunting task of restoring the house while Ken and good friend and top wine maker Martin Meinert challenged the vineyards motivated to produce a wine that could out rival any white wine in the world!! Today Ken is well settled on the farm, with his wife Teresa, daughters Alex and Vicky, their horses, all the rescued dogs, the stable cats, resident geese, ducks and occasional wild buck or porcupine." |
