A melange of fruits explode on the nose; bright red berries, spiced plums and chocolate coupled with subtle hints of fresh flowers and cedary oak. Pure and focused with lively black berries, black pepper and bitter chocolate. Lovely bright acids and fine yet tight tannins provide the ideal framework to a palate that is both long and pure. 2014 Torbreck Struie

Shiraz; Red Wine

2014 Torbreck Struie

Eden/Barossa Valleys, South Australia

91+ WA; 94 JH Sold Out
The 2014 vintage benefitted from a cooler period in mid-February, resulting in longer ripening periods and relatively low yields providing fruit with good concentration and depth. The Eden Valley component retained its perfect natural balance and the lifted bouquet enhances this unique wine style. The harmonious combination of both regions has delivered a wine with plentiful dark fruit characters and aromatic notes. Dense spice, nuances of plum, black olive, lavender and opulent cherry characters all further enhance the natural elegance and persistence of the fruit quality. The 2014 Struie will certainly age gracefully well into the next decade.

2014 Penfolds Bin 389 Cabernet Shiraz

51% Cabernet Sauvignon/49% Shiraz; Red Wine

2014 Penfolds Bin 389 Cabernet Shiraz

Barossa, South Australia

96 JH; 96 JS
24+ bottles available.
Nose: A first impression of dark fruits and chocolate, splashed by spices – cinnamon, vanillin pod, cola. Then, a transient umami dabble – via cues of Worcestershire sauce/smoked Barossa bacon/beef cube. To follow, a bruléed lift mirrored by scents of toasted brioche, soaked oats. Intriguingly different, yet still Bin 389, albeit young/evolving at this perusal at an early stage.
Palate: Expansive, explosive, exotic...a Bin 389 triple-ex palate rating! A wave/surge of fruits and spice unleashed – propelled by tomato and tahini paste flavours. Juicy, succulent tannins engulf, alongside oak – adding volume, density. Mouth-coating in every sense. Long and lingering. Best 2018 - 2035.
