That said, if your general drinking fare consists of Barossa shiraz and lots of it – then you might want to taste this before you put in your standard order. It’s just a suggestion. It’s reflective of the season, and therefore different to previous releases. It’s peppery, for starters. There’s a clear note of coffee grounds, but it is in no way oak dominant. There’s a darkness to the fruit, in terms of flavour, but a lightness in terms of intensity or weight. Not “light”: just lighter than usual. There are dried herb notes and well honed, well ripened, nutty tannins.
