"The nose offers aromas of lemon sorbet, white peach, crushed hazelnut and struck flint mineral notes. The palate is long, elegant and broad with beautiful creaminess from the extended aging on lees. Alongside a backbone of crisp and punchy acidity are notes of stone fruits, citrus and shortbread. A luscious and complex wine."
"The fruit was hand-picked and whole bunch pressed into tank. The juice was transferred to barrel after eight hours settling. Indigenous fermentation took place in barrel at 60 - 74F. Total time in oak was 11 months. The lees were stirred for the first two months only. No malolactic fermentation. The wine was transferred to tank in January for a light chill and filtration before bottling.13.5% alc."
"95 pts ... An intense blend of grapefruit pith/zest/juice is coupled with shiny acidity on a palate that is a great example of the Yarra Valley’s ace in the hole with chardonnay: extreme length."

$44.9995 JH From the Yarra Valley, one of Australia's premier Pinot Noir growing regions (you too, Tasmania, and you too, Brokenwood Pinot Noir). Ta da - Giant Steps! The perfect drop to enjoy with the Coltrane performance of the same name, we get something fragrant on the nose - wood or spices - and taste purple fruits. The wine has what we think of as the Yarra Valley leanness, perhaps more properly minerality. Very tasty, very food friendly.
