Winemaker's Notes
"Red fruits, plum and sweet cherry are underpinned with fragrant notes of spice and dried sage. Fruit forward with a long supple structure, licorice and cocoa notes are typical of our vineyard site."

Technical Notes
"Fruit was hand picked from our own and two neighbouring vineyard blocks and fermented in open vats. Fermentation started naturally with 'wild' yeasts, after which the wine was pressed off the skins and aged in oak barrels for 8 months. 14% alc."

2013 Astrolabe Pinot Noir
$27.99
Honestly not initially our favorite Pinot, and then some months later we were knocked out by the evolution. Gone was a rather too bracing astringency and zowie was it replaced by delectable dark cherry and plum flavors with a perfect balance of acidity. Yummy!

2009 Lawson's Dry Hills Pinot Noir
$21.99
A little smokiness which we find typical of many Marlborough Pinots, lots of bright black cherry and cinnamon perhaps as well on the palate. Flavors are definitely enhanced with foods including spicy lamb sausage, smoked fish, or herb roasted chicken.
