2010 Tacuil 33 de Davalos Red Wine
Salta, Argentina

This wine is just luscious. From seven year old vines at over 7,000' in the Salta region, this wine bursts with red cherry, blackberry, dark chocolate, and a hint of spice. It is not the standard good salesperson technique to push the least expensive item, but this is really our favorite of the Bodega Tacuil wines. So good right now, and so clearly capable of ageing really beautifully.

Winemaker's Notes
"An amazing show of elegance and power. The aromatics are expressive with black currant, spice and plums. The wine is explosive on the palette; showing the weight and texture that you expect from old vines, but with the expression of youthful fruit from the 7 year old vines. A wine that dispels the myth that old vines provides more pedigree."

Technical Notes
"80% Malbec/20% Cabernet Sauvignon from vines grown at 7800 feet. No oak was used. 15% alc. 75 cases produced."
Wine Advocate
"92 pts ... Lovely spice and herbal notes are intermingled with assorted black fruits leading to an intense, balanced, full-flavored offering that can be enjoyed over the next 8-10 years."

Stephen Tanzer
"90 pts ... Bright full ruby-red. Urgent crushed blackberry, licorice, spices and bitter chocolate on the brooding nose."
