Winemaker's Notes
"Maquis "Franco" is Chile's great Cabernet Franc. Under the guidance of renowned master blender, Jacques Boissenot, Maquis has produced a 100% Cabernet Franc that is not only an elegant wine to drink now, but will transform as it ages over the next 20 years. The unique seasonal conditions and soils of the Colchagua Valley help to produce a wine with great aromatic intensity and complexity."

"93 pts ... The 2010 Franco is Cabernet Franc, a serious wine with some austerity, a sense of earth and minerals, a texture or a feeling more than a flavor. It is intense, powerful, with strong personality, combining power and finesse, very good balance, acidity and freshness. Structured but juicy. This is the third vintage for this superb Cabernet Franc from a warm climate. It has finesse and balance, with an Audrey Hepburn kind of complexity and elegance. It's approachable now, but should also age well. Drink now-2020. "

"92 pts ... (100% cabernet franc, raised in all new French oak): Opaque ruby. Sexy, highly perfumed aromas of dark berry preserves, licorice, black tea and vanilla, with a smoky nuance that gaining strength with air. Rich but lively on the palate, offering intense black and blue fruit flavors and a touch of bitter chocolate. Shows a highly appealing floral pastille quality on the finish, which is shaped by smooth, slow-building tannins. This suave cab franc is delicious now but has the depth to age."
