2012 Casarena Jamilla's Vineyard Malbec
Mendoza, Argentina

We love it. Somewhat austere at first, then opens nicely to dark red fruit flavors, dark, dark chocolate, and a unique minerality all of which makes the wine both tasty and an excellent accompaniment to red meats, grilled or marinated or both!

Winemaker's Notes
"Rocky limestone and shallow soil terroir's best expression is a wine with mineral notes, floral and red fruit flavors. Fresh. Pure elegance."

Wine Advocate
"94 pts ... The 2012 Malbec Jamilla's Vineyard is a subtle Malbec from a vineyard in Perdriel. It is a little closed and is a wine you need to coax. It has a mineral profile, and ends very tasty with that tactile feeling akin to licking stones that leaves a somewhat salty sensation. The nose is very subtle, a little shy, and slowly opens up and reveals a serious, dare I say mineral, stony profile, where the nose takes you to the gravels found on the soils. Lovely Perdriel, more about the place than the grape. There are only 12 hectares of vineyards in Jamilla's, so quite a small vineyard for the Argentinean standards. There's not a huge variation in soils and I see some commonalities with the Syrah here. Two great terroir wines."

2013 Vina Cobos Bramare Lujan de Cuyo Malbec
New Vintage! Dark, luscious, and smooth without any heaviness. Really rather elegant and well-balanced. Certainly pairs well with red meats and will also play nicely with roasted pork or chicken and other fowl.

93 WS; 91(+?) ST If you like red meat or incredibly hearty vegetable dishes, this is your perfect go-with. Age-giving balance and integration show happily in this rich, deep, and dark fruit flavored Malbec. A little tannic punch will assist in excellent pairings with filet, ribs, steak, and chops, roasted or grilled, herbed up or with just a little pepper. Give it a whirl before it gets dark at the barbecue by dinner time!
