"With a relationship rooted in 10 years of friendship, Ben Glaetzer and Benjamin Hammerschlag share a common vision of producing wines that while they exhibit a distinct ripeness, richness and power also are balanced and vibrant. The fruit was picked in March and remained in tank until July at which time it was transferred into older oak until being bottled first week of July.In 2004, Ben took cuttings from the O'Donnell vineyard that had been determined to produce some of McLarenVale's best Grenache. He then planted them in the hardest soil on his property in an effort to achieve aromatics and concentration. These bush planted Grenache vines have the windiest position on the property and also the best view of of the McLaren Vale coastline. 15% alc."
"91 pts ... Pale to medium garnet-purple in color, the 2012 Grenache is scented of kirsch, black raspberries and allspice with hints of black and white pepper. Full-bodied, rich and satiny textured in the mouth, it offers plenty of red fruit and baking spice layers in the long finish. Drink it now to 2019+." --02/14
"91 pts ... Lush, expressive aromas of fresh raspberry and cherry compote, with a spicy topnote adding vivacity. Silky and sweet, offering intense red berry, floral pastille and spicecake flavors that gain weight in the glass. Finishes silky and long, with resonating spice and floral notes. This is delicious now but has thebalance to age." --08/13
