Winemaker's Notes
"Dark purple. Spicy blackcurrant and cherry aromas are complemented by Asian spices and floral oils. Lively and precise on the palate, offering gently sweet, incisive dark fruit flavors and a hint of spicecake. Finishes on a gentle tannic note, with very good clarity and an echo of candied flowers." Technical Notes
"Scruffy, our Shiraz vineyard manager, works hard to keep our shiraz bunches tight and our berries small and yields very low at around 4 tons per acre. Our winemaker insists on bunch sorting at harvest to make sure we only use the very best clusters. Most of the fruit is destemmed and pressed while a small portion is whole bunch pressed. All parcels are kept separate during the winemaking process in our state of the art winery. We use a lot of smaller tanks as a result which is difficult, but necessary for the production of a quality wine. Punch overs and extended maceration times give us color and richness. We work with the best coopers and use a combination of French and American oak to mature this wine - 25% of which is new. Bench blending takes forever - there are so many variables and we return the final cuvee to tank for several months to come together before bottling. It's a lot of work and we really hope you enjoy the result. This wine was sustainably farmed and produced in an effort to reduce our carbon footprint."

2015 St. Hallett Faith Shiraz
$14.99
New Vintage! '14 91 JH Faith Shiraz is what most wine writers would refer to as a "good value." We prefer to describe it for what it is -- incredibly good and inexpensive too! Layers of black fruit sneak up on you, and there is just enough pepper to lift but not overwhelm the fruit. The St. Hallett winery was founded in the Barossa nearly 70 years ago . It is a noteworthy producer of wines across the price spectrum, and Faith is at all points happy!

2012 Tahbilk Shiraz
$18.99
90 WA Australians know Tahbilk produces unique wines. The reds are comparatively reserved and a tad hard edged at the beginning of their lives but really reward the patient, and yes even a wine at this price is cellar worthy. This Shiraz shows us medium-bodied purple fruits, nice tannins, and more development potential, although we certainly wouldn't refuse to imbibe freely right away.
