"Considered a very good vintage in the Clare, the 2012 Covenant is intensely fragrant on the nose and expressive of blueberry preserves, dark fruits, licorice, wild olives and French oak spices. The palate has layers of complexity, fruit weight and flavor persistence, combining black and blue fruits, cooking spices and earthy notes. This is all beautifully supported by the characters of quality French oak."
"The fruit for the Covenant Shiraz was hand-picked from four dry-grown premium vineyards with an average vine age of 30 to 40 years, located in the Clare Valley. Only the best parcels were selected and blended to create an elegant, terroir-based wine. Traditional methods of vinification were used with fermentation taking place in small open fermenters and gently processed through a basket press. Aged 20 months in French barriques, 30% new. 14.6% alc."

Full-bodied and densely fruited with muscular blackberry and earthy flavors, it shows a sold backbone of firm, rounded tannins and balanced acid before finishing long."
