Wonderful flavor and structure in this yummy blend. Dry dark berries and currants, earth, chocolate, toasty oak, and dried herbs are deftly combined to provide a very pleasing quaff. The anti fruit compote wine which definitely wants something seriously grilled or roasted to complete your enjoyment.

Winemaker's Notes
"The distinctive 2010 Maquis Lien is made from a finely tuned blend of 50% Carmenere, 35% Syrah, 10% Cabernet Franc, 5% Petit Verdot. It is a generous red wine that reflects the character of the Hurtado family's special plot of land.To make this fruity and concentrated blend, the winemakers have developed vines that bear no more than 12 bunches of grapes per plant. Only the ripest grapes are picked, then sorted by hand at the winery. The Lien is barrel aged for 12 months in French oak."
Wine Enthusiast
"90 pts ... This racy, fresh, cool-vintage blend is a touch rubbery on the nose, with berry and cassis undertones. A tight palate delivers a mix of dark plum, blackberry, baking spice and chocolate flavors in front of a peppery, dry, crisp finish." --12/14
