Winemaker's Notes
"The 2009 Catena Alta Chardonnay presents an intense greenish-yellow color. The nose offers peaches, vanilla and citric aromas with light floral notes and hints of spice and toasted bread. The palate shows rich and concentrated ripe pear, apricot flavors and a light note of sweet nutmeg spice. Finishes long and complex with crisp, mineral acidity." Technical Notes
"At almost 5,000 feet in elevation in the Andean foothills, the Adrianna vineyard's pebble covered soils and cool climate are ideal for growing Chardonnay. The fruit from the Adrianna vineyard has a purity of flavors and a minerality that is particular to this vineyard and can not be found anywhere else in Mendoza. The Chardonnay is 100% barrel fermented and aged in French oak barriques, 50% new, for 12-16 months with aggressive battonage (up to 4 times per week). Acid 6 g/L; p.H. 3.2 14% alc." |
