2014 Elderton Shiraz
Barossa Valley, South Australia

Flavors burst happily forth on the mid-palate with dark chocolate and concentrated blackberry in the lead, finishes a long time later with some vanilla, oak, and chocolate reverberations. We want this wine with mushroom stew and German chocolate cake.

Winemaker's Notes
"Aromas of black forest fruits, chocolate and vanilla. On the palate, plum, chocolate and spice. A full-bodied, rich wine."

Technical Notes
"The fruit was crushed and inoculated with a selected yeast strain. Fermentation took place in concrete open top fermenters at 20 - 28C for approximately 5 - 7 days, mostly headed down under oak boards. Maturation using the best American oak puncheons for 14 months. Will drink well now and cellar tremendously into the medium term. 14.5% alc."
James Halliday
"94 pts ... This would blow your hair back. It offers a whoosh of syrupy soft flavour. It's all plums and cloves and smoky oak; twist the top and the scents and flavours are at you at a rate of knots, like they have pleasure to sell and the faster the deal is sealed, the better. It will cellar, but there's no need to."

$28.99
A yummy, medium- to full-bodied, dark red cherry flavored Cabernet with hints of what we think of as Barossa Valley spice - a kind of peppery dark chocolate - combining very happily with soft tannins on the finish. Terrific with grilled or smoked meats and roasted eggplant.

2015 Torbreck Woodcutters Shiraz
$25.99
94 JH Ready? Ground lamb awaiting a spoonful each of cinnamon, cumin and coriander with a handful of pine nuts and currants all whirred together in the cuisinart and blended into the lamb. Let it sit, whip together some greek yogurt, mint and garlic, barbecue those lamb burgers and enjoy the entire mess on a piece of naan with your wine. This incredible combo works well with any fruit forward shiraz such as this intensely dark-fruited example or Gnarly Dudes or Moppa.
