Winemaker's Notes
"Crimson and garnet, with a dark edge. Immediately fresh. The nose shows raspberries, blueberries and strawberries straight off the bush, braced with rhubarb. Blackberry and mulberry on the palate. The maturation has imbedded the wine with spice, anise and cardamom. The tannin is talc, fine and delicate. The acid is pronounced but not sour and binds the tannin up leaving a tangy, pure exit. The berry flavours become more pronounced as times etches this wine into the future. It has decades to give."

"100% Shiraz, hand-picked and sourced from Shiraz vines planted in 1893. Matured for 21 months in 35% new and the remainder in 1 year old French oak. The wine making procedure is a closely guarded secret, with innovative techniques as yet revealed to new world wine. 14.5% alc."

Medium garnet-purple colored, the 2012 Shiraz Old Bastard (in refrence to the 1863 vines that produce this wine) reveals a complex, enticing nose of red and black fruits - mulberries, red currants and cherries - with nuances of sandalwood, dried roses, underbrush, Provence herbs and star anise. Medium to full-bodied, it is maturing with great elegance and grace on the palate, offering multilayered earth, spice and fruit flavors supported by very fine-grained tannins and balanced freshness, finishing with excellent length. Drink 2016-2030."
