"Very pure aromas of cassis and blackberry fruit and the white jasmine notes that characterize this vineyard. Dark and ripe on the palate with a lush core of plum and black fruits. Rich and fine mouth-feel with the velvety tannins typical of a Jonkershoek wine. The Three Pines Cabernet Sauvignon is produced from a tiny 24-year-old single-vineyard with a total production of only 3979 bottles. This wine has the elegant Jonkershoek tannin structure with its finely textured decomposed granite soils coupled with the unique Jonkershoek climate. A little Merlot (5%) and Petit Verdot (5%) adds to the pure, finely textured mouthfeel and makes this wine intensely pure and rich. After 22 months barrel maturation of which 70% new French oak was used, the wine was bottled unfined and unfiltered. Jose Stark Conde describes this wine as 'having a lot of guts and succeeding in balancing elegance with power'."
