  • Winemaker's Notes
"Commenced by my father Eric with a Shiraz from the 1948 harvest, the best fruit from each vintage is put aside for release as what were then known as ‘Special Bin’, then ‘Reserve’ and now ‘Eric Stevens Purbrick’. They are wines that set the upper level benchmark for reds at Tahbilk and quite simply are the finest we do. It was 4 years until we saw the first ‘Special Bin’ Cabernet Sauvignon release coming as it did from the 1952 vintage. More sophisticated vineyard practices now see side by side releases the norm – praise be for that! "Very dark red black colour. Intensely ripe and deep fruit cake plum and black currant aromas. It's almost South Australian. Dense and concentrated palate stacks plenty of weight into the mix. Lovely wine.""
