2009 Nosotros Malbec
Mendoza, Argentina

The grapes for Nosotros come from Dominio del Plata's vineyards in Lujan de Cuyo and the Uco Valley; the vines are an average of 52 years old, certainly a contributing factor to the depth of flavors in this powerful wine. We also taste chocolate, dark-fruits, and a not at all disturbing bit of oak. (Is it just us, or does anyone else find over-oaked wines disturbing?) Only 120 cases of this wine were made, so don't miss out.

Winemaker's Notes
"Can a wine really be this big and still be balanced? Actually, yes it can. This is a big, broad-shouldered wine with ripe raspberry and blackberry fruit layered with alluring mocha, licorice, floral and mineral notes. There's plenty of toasty French oak on the finish, but this has the fruit concentration and complexity to handle it. This is a wine to enjoy over the next 15 years with grilled or roasted meats like beef or lamb, pasta Bolognese, quail stuffed with sausage, or any other great meat combo you can dream up."
Wine Advocate
"90 pts ... The 2009 Nosotros Malbec comes from 53-year-old vines in Lujan de Cuyo and Uco Valley and is raised in new French oak for 18 months. It has a rich, blackberry and raspberry scented bouquet, interlaced by Valrhona chocolate and dried herbs. The palate is full-bodied with supple tannins and a sweet core of raspberry and strawberry fruit. Although the aromatics are a little oaky, the palate absorbs the oak well, rendering the finish harmonious and voluptuous. Drink now-2020. "
