Winemaker's Notes
"Deep dark red with a purple hue. On the nose, vibrant notes of blueberry, plum, coconut, pastry and smoked meats. On the palate, immediately appealing, with lovely weight and glossy texture, this full bodied Shiraz has hints of blueberry pie, sweet spices, plum, and fresh pastries. Sweet fruits and a glossy, velvet texture caresses the palate, complimented by secondary notes of smoked meats and coal dust. Grainy and savoury tannins pull the wine through to an exceptionally long and complex finish."

Technical Notes
"The grapes were crushed into and fermented in open top potters, with regular pump overs twice daily to extract colour and tannin. The grapes were then pressed and the wine was transferred to tank and then racked to barrel for oak maturation. 18 months in 25% new American oak hogsheads, the balance in 2-6 year old American and French oak hogsheads. Cellar potential 10-15 years. 16.5% alc."
Wine Spectator
"93 pts ...Rich and luscious, with fleshy dark plum, black cherry and licorice notes. Toast, cocoa and black tea details create a generous chorus. Velvety finish. Drink now through 2026."

Wine Advocate
"94 pts ... Deep garnet/purple, the 2013 Shiraz Lily's Garden is profoundly scented of baked black berries, preserved plums, prunes and Szechuan pepper with accents of bay leaves, cloves and spice box. Concentrated and rich on the full-bodied palate, it is packed with warm black fruits with cedar notes and tons of spices and structured by firm, rounded tannins. It finishes very long."
