2012 Torbreck Struie
Eden/Barossa Valleys, South Australia

Savory, by which we mean the pepper and spice box flavors are wonderfully integrated with the lovely dark fruit flavors, especially blackberry and currant. Fabulous with pepper steak, Korea beef, and grilled lamb doused with garlic and rosemary.

Winemaker's Notes
"Sourced from several elevated sites throughout the Barossa & Eden Valleys, the Struie reflects the cooler side of the region and showcases the subtle nuances that are gained from hillside viticulture. The perfect conditions experienced in the Barossa Valley during the 2012 Vintage have enhanced the naturally elegant and fine qualities that the Struie is renowned for."

Technical Notes

Wine Advocate
"92 pts ... A blend of Shiraz from the Eden Valley and Barossa, the 2012 The Struie has a deep garnet-purple color and notes of baked cherries, dried mulberries, prunes and dried herbs with hints of menthol and pepper. Very big, full and concentrated in the mouth, the flavors are evolving and expanding gracefully, framed by chewy tannins and ample freshness, finishing long. Drink 2015 - 2022. "

James Halliday
"94 pts ... A blend of Barossa and Eden Valleys. An extremely powerful and complex wine, with a major question hanging over its head in the form of tis alcohol; there is an ocean of black fruits, but the alcohol warmth is a take it or leave it issue. Drink through 2032."
