2009 Elderton Ode to Lorraine
Barossa Valley, South Australia

Give it some air and prepare to sing it's praises! A delicious, deep, dark-fruited wine, not at all heavy or overpowering and yet such mouth filling flavors. We get purple berries and dashes of plum, tea, and tannin. Terrific with standing rib roast, turkey roasted in the barbeque, mashed potatoes with buttermilk, and oven roasted root vegetables.

Technical Notes
"66% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Shiraz, 9% Merlot. Aged 24 months in 80% French, 20% American oak. 14% alc."
James Halliday
"93 pts ... Fresh hue; a blend of cabernet sauvignon, shiraz and merlot; it is the blackcurrant/cassis fruit of the cabernet sauvignon that drives the bouquet and the medium-bodied palate, although there is plenty of oak; it has good mouthfeel and length, the tannins ripe and silky. Drink through 2024."

Wine Advocate
"93 pts ... A blend of 66% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Shiraz and 9% Merlot, the 2009 Ode to Lorraine has a deep garnet-purple color and aromas of warm cassis, mulberries and anise with touches of prunes, Ceylon tea and tobacco. Full-bodied and voluptuous in the mouth, it has a moderate level of velvety tannins and enlivening acidity, finishing with persistent savory notes. Delicious now, it should keep to 2021+. "
