Winemaker's Notes
"The aroma bursts out of the glass almost in a brooding, elegant manner. Juicy red and black fruits with notes of five spice, earth, black pepper and sandalwood. Fresh juicy fruits erupt and roll across the palate as only a great Barossa Shiraz can. Lovely tactile nature with grippy fine grained tannins. Palate rolls on and on with subtle chocolate and spice notes. A brilliant vintage of Barossa Shiraz yet feels moody and tightly coiled. Watch it fan out after a couple of years in bottle. This will be a classic."

Technical Notes
"De-stemmed, crushed and fermented in open top fermenters ranging in size from three to 10 tonne capacity. Regular pump overs occurred three times daily during the peak of fermentation to extract colour, flavour and tannin. Average time ‘on skins’ was 14 days before the dry free run was drained to tank and the pressings combined. After 24 hours the wine was then racked to barrel, where malolactic fermentation took place. Minimal fining and unfiltered prior to bottling. Aged 18 months in French oak hogsheads 40% new remond oak, balance in older French oak hogsheads. 15.5% alc. "
Wine Spectator
"95 pts ... #16 Top 100. Utterly seamless, focused, powerful and elegant, layered with cherry, boysenberry and red plum fruit, revealing glints of coffee, jasmine and cardamom that add extra nuances. Delivers complexity without extra weight. The finish won't quit. Drink now through 2022."

Wine Advocate
"93+ pts ... Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2012 Bella’s Garden Shiraz has a nose of blackberry preserves and warm cassis with hints of menthol, dark chocolate, cardamom and cedar. Full-bodied and richly fruited in the mouth, the abundant fruit is well matched by firm, rounded tannins and refreshing acid before finishing with great length. Drink it now to 2024+."

Stephen Tanzer
"93 pts ... Brilliant violet color. Powerful, deeply pitched aromas of blue fruit preserves, licorice, incense and mocha are lifted by a sexy Indian spice quality. Stains the palate with sweet dark fruit and cocoa flavors that gain energy and lift with aeration. Rich and expansive but lively as well. Closes velvety and very long, with lingering smokiness and smooth, harmonious tannins."
