2011 Taltarni Brut Tache
Victoria, Australia

You need this sparkler! For one third of the price of certain name-withheld French champagnes, you will be exceedingly pleased. Dry, with a blood orange mid-palate, creamy, good length and crisp finish. It was lovely with spaghetti bolognese and does even better with the usual suspects like smoked trout, lox, your favorite fish, berries, a warm fire and good company!

Winemaker's Notes
"55% Chardonnay, 38% Pinot Noir, 7% Pinot Meunier. An engaging salmon-pink colour enhanced by a fine persistent bead, Taltarni's Brut Tache expresses an assortment of red currant, ripe strawberry and floral aromas and complex yeast characters. 13% alc."
James Halliday
"94 pts ... An engaging interplay between the wonderfully tangy notes of morello cherries, wild strawberries and pink grapefruit and the gently silky, softening influence of a few years of yeast age. The result is seamlessly integrated, having attained that magical moment in its evolution where vivacity and grace find comfortable union. It has texture, persistence and wonderful acid line. Still one of the best value roses on the shelves. For the record, 55% chardonnay (a little fermented in old barrels), 38% pinot noir and 7% meunier. Disgorged May '14."
