Always Syrah dominant as the wonderful bittersweet chocolate flavors derive from the Malmesbury Syrah, this blend also has some juicy dark berry and peppery flavors. Very food friendly as the wine's acidity is in balance. Roasted pork with sage, roasted lamb with rosemary, coffee and pepper rubbed roast beef, or roasted ice cream....just testing on the last one to see if you noticed.

"The influence of the Grenache’s red fruits on this wine is striking. The nose shows an abundance of redcurrant, plums, crushed rock, and an array of spices. The floral notes adds to its complexity. The freshness of the wine puts its head in front of the previous vintages. Spicy oak aromas cover a rounded mid-palate that reveals layers of fruit with intense purity. Textured, composed and seamless in style."

Red fruits, a little pepper, and earth, distinctly South African with its big flavors in check. Pairs really well with game, fowl, sausages, and yes, pizza.

"Peppery, spicy, smoky and exhibit ripe red fruit notes. Texture of this style of wine is supple, smooth on the entry but with enough grip to end dry and refreshing. The texture and finesse of the tannins is elegant and lasts through to a long finish. A wine that will age gracefully with time."

"Juicy, palate-staining red and dark berry preserve flavors show impressive purity."

"This celebrated bio-dynamic wine is of-ten referred to as Chile’s first “garage wine.” The 2010 vintage has an intense and complex aroma of dark fruit and mineral notes. The palate is rich and concentrated with volume, balance and a lingering, soft finish. The 100% Maipo Valley estate fruit is hand harvested and is a blend of 47% Carmenère, 24% Syrah, and 29% Cabernet Sauvignon."

This wine is intense, like when you body surf and get munched by a wave only to pop up all triumphant and alive with your head spinning and a smile on your lips. Juicy red and purple berries, anise and cinnamon, acidity amd tannins all surfing smoothly through to a long and happy finish.

"Bold and seductive, this youthful, unoaked blend encapsulates all that is great in natural, pure, unseasoned wine. Its fragrance, intensity and energy are all reminiscent of freshly fermenting must, with ripe juicy flavours of blackberry, spiced cherries, minerals and Asian spices wrapped around a skeleton of fresh acidity and fine mineral laden tannins. Soft and sensuous, this wine is frightfully drinkable already, but as with its predecessors will greatly recompense those who choose to give it a few years in the cellar."

2009 Tikal Jubilo Bordeaux Blend 2009 Tikal Jubilo Bordeaux Blend

Oh so yummy and layered. Pretty intense, dried black fruits, hints of oak, and nicely integrated tannins. Yet another talented member of the Catena family makes a fine contribution for our drinking pleasure.

"This is the Asado wine you have been searching for! Deep blackcurrant and oak aromas with opaque red/purple color. Flavors of black cherry liqueur, red currants, and a touch of black tea. Lush without seeming heavy, the wine seems to unfold in layers, keeping the palate excited well past the lengthy finish. Plenty of tannin for aging without any harsh astringency. This Cabernet lover's dream pairs well with most fine food presentations like duck in a fruit sauce, leg of lamb persillade, Osso Buco, and even a simple filet mignon. Also complements medium-strong cheeses (French, Italian, goat) or dishes prepared with mushroom or cream sauces."

2009 Massena Moonlight Run Proprietary Red Wine 2009 Massena Moonlight Run Proprietary Red Wine

Wonderful lifted flavors of some sort of warm Thanksgiving dish with cinnamon, dark berries, and root vegetables. Go figure that combo. The finish is long and almost a bit meaty. Could be the touch of Cinsault. Really interesting and really tasty.

""92 pts ... The 2009 "The Moonlight Run" is a blend of 54% Grenache, 24% Shiraz, 16% Mataro and 6% Cinsault, coming from vineyards ranging from 85 to 160 yrs old. Deep garnet colored with a hint of purple, it displays aromas of warm black raspberries, mulberries, cinnamon stick, white pepper, orange peel and potpourri. Full-bodied and packed with warm berry and spice flavor layers, it has a medium level of velvety tannins, medium-high acid and a long, spicy finish. Delicious now, it should cellar to 2018+." -- Wine Advocate"
